Deep tech businesses are different! 

Investors use completely different metrics when deciding whether to invest in deep tech businesses. 

Yesterday, our firm was a guest of Venture Café London and Barclays Innovation Banking for "From Seed to Scale: Building Fundable DeepTech". We attended alongside investors, venture capital funds and equity-backed deep tech founders, including SatVu, PQShield, Molten Ventures and many others.

➟ Deep tech businesses usually require funding at a much earlier stage than other businesses.

➟ When investing in other businesses, investors usually need to see a clear path to monetisation but this is not the key metric used to evaluate early stage deep tech businesses. 

➟ As a deep tech business, how well do you know your market and your competitors? Have you built strong partnerships to help your business flourish in the long term? Are good lawyers drafting your agreements, filing your patent applications and generally managing your business’ risks? 

➟ As a deep tech founder, are you attending the right events, building your brand and getting good exposure? 

➟ Have your lawyers secured your business contractually and reputationally at an early stage and have they protected your intellectual property?

➟ Once you declare your business to be revenue-generating, the pressure is on. Most of the infrastructure and protection needs to be secured beforehand!
