Trophy Ceremony with the Royal Family and our Governmental Partners including Meydan

Thank you to all the corporate partners, foreign press, media outlets, international clients, former colleagues and others who have reached out to us over the last 65 days to check in with us and to request updates on the situation in the Middle East. 

On 28 February, when the unrest began, some of our senior colleagues, including our Managing Partner Rabya Anwar, Esq. and others, were enjoying the Ramadan themed party at the horce racing championship from the private balcony at Meydan Racecourse. This was a beautiful fusion of East and West. Our firm was an esteemed guest of one of the governmental bodies with which our firm has a close working partnership. We were in great company as HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin RashidAl Maktoum and other members of the Al Maktoum Royal Family were also in attendance at the same event. We would like to thank the excellent Meydan Free Zone Security Team for its hard work keeping us all safe on that challenging first day of the conflict and we would like to thank our wonderful hosts for all the arrangements, special attention and entertainment.

Since the unrest began, alongside the usual corporate, commercial, regulatory and business advisory services, we have seen a notably greater demand for advisory services relating to insurance matters, contractual and banking advice, freight and logistics arrangements (it helps that we have people on the ground not only in the UAE but also in Oman, Hormuz, etc). Our aviation and maritime practice areas have also grown with the addition of some world renowned Private Jet and Superyacht lawyers joining us this year.

All our colleagues have remained safe, sound and smiling throughout these past 65 days. Pakistan masterfully led the relevant parties into the ceasefire enjoyed by much of the Middle East up until yesterday. Pakistan has rightfully been commended for its excellent diplomatic skills and leadership. After fresh events yesterday, it is hoped that a new ceasefire can be agreed soon.

In the meantime, for our colleagues and clients, it is business as usual... with some fun along the way!
